LaLiga launches Tech Powerhouse 2026 to map AI and technology trends in football

LaLiga

LaLiga has unveiled Tech Powerhouse 2026, a new annual observatory focused on technology, artificial intelligence and innovation in football, developed in partnership with consultancy 380AMK.

The report examines the technologies expected to reshape football over the next decade, drawing on more than 50 industry and economic reports, 22 expert interviews, and a benchmarking study of Europe’s leading football leagues.

The initiative builds on more than a decade of LaLiga’s investment in digital transformation. During that period, the league has developed proprietary technology solutions, encouraged data sharing among clubs, created an applied research ecosystem and integrated artificial intelligence into its internal operations.

Tech Powerhouse 2026 identifies several trends already transforming the sports industry, including the rise of agentic AI—autonomous AI systems capable of automating complex processes and enhancing the operational value of leagues and clubs. The report also explores how AI will influence sports management, decision-making, scientific research and the emergence of new technology-focused roles within football organizations.

LaLiga President Javier Tebas said technology and artificial intelligence have become strategic capabilities for driving growth and creating value for clubs and supporters.

“Technology and artificial intelligence have become strategic capabilities for generating growth and value for clubs and fans. After more than a decade of investing in technology, we want to contribute to the industry’s knowledge by sharing an objective vision of the major changes that will shape the future of sport.”

LaLiga said Tech Powerhouse 2026 is the first edition of a publication that will be updated annually, with the goal of becoming a long-term reference for analyzing technological evolution across the sports industry.
