Sky Deutschland extends Premier League rights deal

Sky Deutschland has secured a three-season extension of its broadcasting agreement for the English Premier League, ensuring coverage of the competition in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland until the end of the 2030/31 season.

The deal guarantees continued access to all 380 Premier League matches each season, with more than 280 games shown live, reinforcing Sky Deutschland’s position as the league’s primary broadcaster in the German-speaking market.

The extension builds on the current rights cycle running from 2025/26 to 2027/28, effectively pushing the partnership into the next decade.

Sky Deutschland Chief Executive Barny Mills described the Premier League as a cornerstone property in international sports broadcasting.

“The Premier League is one of the absolute premium rights of international sport. With numerous German stars and many of the best players in the world, the league is also particularly attractive for football fans in Germany.”

The Premier League’s popularity in the region continues to grow, supported by German players competing in England, including Kai Havertz at Arsenal and Florian Wirtz at Liverpool F.C..

Premier League Chief Media Officer Paul Molnar praised Sky’s long-term contribution to the league’s international growth.

“Sky is a world-class broadcaster that stands out for its high-quality productions, professional editorial standards, and its long-standing commitment to comprehensive and innovative football coverage.”

The agreement also includes commercial and hospitality broadcast rights via Sky Business, allowing pubs, restaurants, and hotels across the region to screen matches legally.

Sky Deutschland’s portfolio remains one of the strongest in European football broadcasting, also covering domestic competitions such as the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, alongside England’s EFL. The extension underscores the Premier League’s continued dominance as one of the most valuable and globally demanded sports properties in world media rights.
