Brazilian investment fund Outfield has officially moved to take majority control of Le Mans FC, ushering in a new era of celebrity-backed ownership for the French club. This strategic expansion brings together an elite roster of world-renowned athletes, signaling a massive leap in the club’s commercial and sporting ambitions.

A Coalition of Global Icons

The new ownership structure is a “who’s who” of international sports. Joining the venture through various investment vehicles are:

  • Novak Djokovic: The tennis legend who joined the project earlier in the cycle.
  • Thibaut Courtois: The Real Madrid goalkeeper, entering via his company NxtPlay.
  • Felipe Massa & Kevin Magnussen: Representing the world of Formula 1.

While Outfield now holds the majority of shares, current President Thierry Gomez will retain his position and minority stake, ensuring continuity in the club’s day-to-day leadership.

Building a “French Wrexham”

The influx of capital is earmarked for structural transformation. The new owners plan to acquire and modernize the La Pincenardière training center and relaunch the club’s youth academy by the start of the next season. With Le Mans currently competing for promotion to Ligue 1, the goal is to leverage these high-profile names to build a globally recognized brand rooted in the city’s rich motorsport and sporting heritage.
