Dallas Wings to Take Over $81M Practice Facility After City Approval

The Dallas Wings are officially taking the lead on their new $81 million practice facility. Following a 13–2 vote, the Dallas City Council approved an amended deal that caps city funding at $57 million. The WNBA franchise will now manage construction and cover the remaining $24 million in costs, which rose significantly due to a 50% budget increase and a one-year project delay.

This facility is a cornerstone of the Wings’ move from Arlington to Dallas. While the team originally hoped to move by 2026, the timeline has shifted. Under the new agreement, the Wings will play their 2027 season at the American Airlines Center (home of the Dallas Mavericks) before moving into their permanent home at the renovated Dallas Memorial Auditorium for the 2028 season.

Owner Greg Bibb reaffirmed the team’s commitment to Dallas despite the “ups and downs,” emphasizing that the facility will meet the high training standards required by the WNBA’s new collective bargaining agreement.
