Argentinian soccer giants River Plate have signed a transformative 10-year partnership with global entertainment powerhouse Live Nation. The deal, valued at approximately $110 million, grants Live Nation the naming rights to the iconic Estadio Monumental starting January 1, 2027.

A Global Entertainment Hub

The agreement, which involves partners DF Entertainment and Dale Play Live, aims to turn the 85,018-capacity venue into South America’s premier destination for international touring artists. Under the terms:

  • Exclusive Promotion: Live Nation gains exclusive rights to present live shows at the stadium.
  • Member Benefits: River Plate members will receive priority access to pre-sale tickets for major concerts.
  • Naming Transition: Live Nation will take over the naming rights from Argentinian supermarket brand Mâs, whose current deal concludes at the end of 2026.

Funding a Record-Breaking Expansion

The $110 million injection is set to fund River Plate’s ambitious infrastructure project: increasing the stadium’s capacity to 101,000. This expansion would make the Monumental the second-largest club soccer stadium in the world.

The renovation plans include:

  1. New Upper Tier: Adding 16,000 new seats.
  2. Roof Installation: A complete roof covering all stands, designed in collaboration with German firm Schlaich Bergermann Partner.
  3. Revenue Growth: Diversifying income streams through non-soccer events and premium hospitality.

Construction is projected to begin in April 2026, with a 36-month timeline and an estimated cost exceeding $100 million. By the time the Live Nation naming rights begin in 2027, the stadium will be well on its way to becoming a global architectural and entertainment landmark.
