The global padel boom has reached a new milestone.
The Rafa Nadal Academy is expanding its amateur padel circuit into the United States, launching four confirmed events in 2026 through a strategic alliance with Playtomic.
After consolidating two editions in Spain and activating Italy, the Academy is now targeting North America — a market where padel participation and club development are accelerating rapidly.
Four Stops Across Key US Growth Markets
The 2026 US calendar includes:
- Miami (March 13–15) – Padel X
- Austin (April 24–26) – Padel 39
- Miami (May 8–10) – Ultra Padel
- New York (Final stop) – Reserve Padel, Manhattan
The structure reflects a calculated market entry strategy: focus on cities with strong racquet-sport ecosystems, high-income demographics, and existing padel infrastructure.
For Playtomic, which has become a leading digital booking and competition platform in racquet sports, the partnership strengthens its footprint in a US market still in its early commercial scaling phase.
Babolat Joins as Strategic Partner
To support the expansion, the Academy has brought in Babolat as a strategic equipment partner.
The brand’s integration includes:
- Product inclusion in welcome packs
- Equipment prizes for winners
- On-site brand activation
The move aligns with Babolat’s broader strategy of capitalizing on padel’s double-digit growth in new markets, particularly the United States.
Maribel Nadal, deputy general manager of the Academy, framed the expansion as a response to rising demand for padel in the US. Playtomic’s sponsorship director, Laura Rivas, emphasized the platform’s role in scaling global racquet sports through technology-enabled competition structures.
Europe Remains Core to the Circuit
While entering North America, the Rafa Nadal Academy Pádel Tour will maintain a robust 2026 European calendar.
Stops are scheduled in:
- Spain: Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Santander
- Italy: Rome, Milan, Florence
All international routes culminate in a final event at the Academy’s headquarters in Manacor, Mallorca — a high-performance complex featuring 19 padel courts (10 indoor, 9 outdoor), health facilities, and residential accommodation.
Why This Matters
Padel is widely considered the fastest-growing racquet sport globally, but the US market remains underdeveloped relative to Spain, Italy, and Latin America.
By entering early with a branded amateur circuit tied to one of sport’s most recognizable names — Rafael Nadal — the Academy positions itself at the intersection of participation growth, technology integration, and premium brand association.
For US operators and sponsors, the signal is clear: padel’s commercialization cycle is entering a new phase — and global rights holders are moving quickly to secure strategic ground.
