French football is facing a deepening financial crisis, with combined losses across Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 exceeding €540 million for the 2024–2025 season.
According to recent figures, total accumulated losses over the past decade have now surpassed €3 billion. The situation has worsened following the end of funding linked to CVC Capital Partners, contributing to an 18% decline in overall revenue, which dropped to €2.36 billion.
The financial imbalance is further highlighted by the dominance of Paris Saint-Germain, which alone accounts for approximately 38% of total Ligue 1 revenues. This concentration underscores the growing economic disparity within French football.
The figures raise fresh concerns about sustainability across both divisions, as clubs continue to grapple with declining income streams and structural financial challenges.
