In a landmark move for French domestic rugby union, the Top 14 has unveiled its first-ever presenting sponsor for the competition’s knockout stages. French fintech firm Pennylane has expanded its existing partnership with the league, securing naming rights for the post-season through 2028.
Under this new agreement, the championship’s climactic rounds will officially be rebranded as the “Pennylane Final Phase.”
Deepening the Partnership The collaboration between the National Rugby League (LNR) and Pennylane began in September 2025 with a three-year deal initially valued by GlobalData Sport at $4.5 million. This rapid expansion to a presenting partner status reflects the brand’s commitment to the sport’s high-stakes season finale.
As the presenting partner, Pennylane will receive extensive visibility, including:
- Branding on the match ball during semi-finals and the final.
- Naming rights for the official Fan Zone at the final’s venue.
- A specific trophy associated with the Final Phase.
- On-field activations and a heavy digital/editorial presence.
Strategic Growth for the Top 14 The Top 14 is currently enjoying a period of significant commercial and digital expansion. This deal follows the recent launch of its global direct-to-consumer streaming platform, Top 14 Rugby TV, and a series of international media rights agreements brokered by Two Circles.
The 2025-26 “Pennylane Final Phase” will involve the league’s top six teams in a high-octane knockout format. As of the current standings after 16 rounds, defending champions Toulouse are leading the table, setting the stage for what promises to be a highly-watched inaugural Pennylane-sponsored final.
